The Tortoise and the Hare Fable
The hare was constantly boasting:
Hare:
“No one can run faster than me!”
Finally, the tortoise couldn’t take it anymore and replied:
Tortoise:
“If you’re so sure, why don’t we race?”
The hare laughed and agreed:
Hare:
“Race against you? Alright, but don’t feel bad when you lose because you’re so slow!”
The race began. The hare dashed off quickly and covered a lot of ground. After a while, he looked back and saw the tortoise was far behind.
Hare:
“Hah! That slow, shelled creature is crawling so slowly. Who knows when he’ll catch up? I might as well take a nap under this tree.”
So, he lay down and fell asleep. Meanwhile, the tortoise kept walking, slow but steady, without stopping.
After some time, the hare woke up, rubbed his eyes, and looked around in disbelief:
Hare:
“What? The tortoise is almost at the finish line!”
He immediately jumped up and ran as fast as he could. But no matter how fast he was, he couldn’t catch up. In the end, the tortoise won the race.
Tortoise:
“I kept walking slow but steady. Patience and persistence are more important than speed and overconfidence.”
The hare, feeling defeated, bowed his head.
Hare:
“I rushed and underestimated my opponent. That’s why I lost the race.”
